Executive coaching and leadership development turning potential into impactful leadership
The Latitude Practice helps turn high potential into confident, high-impact leadership.
Founded by Tom Hudson, The Latitude Practice is an independent executive coaching and leadership development consultancy based in London.
I partner with Executives, Boards and People teams to enable leaders in their organisation to build the breadth of skills required to move from expertise driven leaders to individuals who are able to navigate complexity and communicate with impact at an executive level.
I also work with individual leaders directly, helping to clarify career ambitions, accelerate performance and maintain perspective through career and executive coaching.
Demands placed on leaders today are complex and relentless. I believe they are also creating extraordinary opportunities for those with the potential to adapt.
We need more leaders. A retirement cliff is approaching that many organisations aren't ready for, and new roles — like Chief AI Officer — are straining existing talent models just as external hiring gets more competitive.
Demands on leaders have never been higher. They're expected to set strategy through unprecedented change, lead teams that are multidisciplinary, transient and hybrid, and still deliver against the annual plan. Yet the path into leadership is still built almost entirely on technical expertise.
Honest development feedback remains rare. Organisations invest heavily in leadership development programmes, but investment alone doesn't mean individuals hear the feedback that moves them from having high potential to being genuinely ready for executive or partner-level roles.
The result: a pool of high-potential leaders capable of stepping up, who often aren't yet ready to take on the responsibility — not for lack of talent, but for lack of personalised development.
When I see potential mistaken for readiness, organisational performance suffers and talented people burn out
For organisations
When senior leaders struggle to adapt to new responsibilities, CEOs are pulled into providing more support, executive team dynamics suffer, and wider teams disengage.
Over time, this shows up as slower decision-making, higher turnover in key leadership roles, and the loss of talent an organisation can't afford to lose — all of which limit its ability to grow and adapt to what's ahead.
I work with Executives, Boards and People teams to define what key leaders need to develop, then coach those individuals directly broadening their skills, raising their performance to executive level and helping them realise their potential.
For individuals
Many leaders know they need to grow, but aren't always clear what will make the biggest difference or where to focus amongst competing pressures. Without the right support, it's easy to become overwhelmed, fall back on familiar habits, and unknowingly damage stakeholder relationships.
Over time, confidence suffers, performance stalls, and the absence of honest feedback can lead to frustration, burnout, or the decision to leave.
I work with leaders to clarify their values and goals, understand their blind spots, take practical action to accelerate their development, and prepare for selection processes so they show up at their best.
“Traditional leadership development builds knowledge. Executive coaching helps leaders convert knowledge into sustained behavioural change and measurable performance.”

The Latitude Practice executive coaching approach
All coaching starts with a focus on what both the individual and, where appropriate the organisation wants. I focus on getting into specifics, and provide challenge to ensure goals are what people genuinely want, not what they think they should be doing.
I can offer psychometric assessments or conduct feedback interviews, but am equally happy using existing reports where appropriate.
Find clarity
My coaching focuses on breaking down ambiguous concepts into practical actions that can be undertaken in days, not months.
I also recognise coaching is less effective when done in a vacuum. So while always respecting the confidential nature of coaching, I also partner with the organisations I work with to ensure the best development resources are used for the specific needs of the individual and that everyone is aligned on key development actions.
Build momentum
Leadership development is not linear, and unplanned events at work or at home can come into play too. My coaching focuses on helping leaders understand feedback, decide where to adapt and where to stay the course.
Maintain perspective
Testimonials from people I have worked with
"Tom quickly understands complex situations, provides balanced and objective challenge, and brings clarity to decisions that can otherwise feel overwhelming. He has a real strength in helping me recognise the assumptions, beliefs and thought-patterns shaping my decisions. The self-awareness and perspective gained through our work together have helped me approach challenges with greater clarity, confidence and intent."
— Director, Big 4 Consultancy"It was a real pleasure transitioning into the role with your support, guidance, wisdom and a healthy dose of humour too!"
— Group Chief Underwriting Officer, Global Insurer"I came to Tom at a point where I had a lot of noise and not much clarity. What struck me most was his ability to listen carefully, find the thread in everything I was saying and reflect it back in a way that was both precise and useful. He has a rare talent for taking something that feels complex and helping you see it simply, without losing any of the nuance. The sessions left me with a much clearer sense of what I actually wanted and, most importantly, what to do about it."
